We camped out at the Pocomoke River State Park for three days over Memorial Day weekend. It is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from where we live. We were impressed with the campground. They had hot showers, a camp store, boat rentals, a creek, a river, a fishing pond, and lots of trails. What more could we ask for? We didn't think very much until we drove past another campground on the way to Assateauge Island. They had water slides, an arcade, and a miniature golf course. We just might have to try that campground out another time. :)

Kaden has been begging Geoff to take him fishing for months. Geoff bought him a fishing pole and we spent hours waiting for Kaden to catch a fish. Unfortunately Kaden didn't catch one this time but Geoff is planning on taking him out again. Hopefully he will have better luck next time.

Kaylee was luckier and ended up catching her first fish. She was pretty excited about it.

One of my favorite things about camping is the food. We made this mountain man's breakfast in the dutch oven and LOVED it. Kaden said he would prefer this for breakfast from now on in place of cereal. Unfortunately that is not going to happen.

We rented this little electric boat to take out on the creek.

The kids both enjoyed it.

We came up behind these geese and scared them.

The kids had fun looking for pet bugs to put in their bug catchers,

decorating pillowcases with painted leafs,

and making other crafts,

playing at the park, (If you look really close you can see them at the top of the green slide)

meeting new friends,

catching butterflies, bubbles,

minnows and frogs, and

playing with rocket balloons.

We all enjoyed getting ice cream cones from the camp store. Don't you love Kaylee's face in this picture? :)

On the way back from Assateague Island we drove by Berlin, MD. This is one of the places that Runaway Bride was filmed. I had read about it online and really wanted to see it. Geoff was kind enough to take me by. I thought it was a charming little town. I wouldn't mind living there.

This was another place we drove by on the way back from Assateague Island. It was next to an arcade. Geoff let the kids play some arcade games. Kaylee said it was one of her favorite things about the whole trip.
We all had a great time and created memories that we will never forget.

Loved the motor boat!! Looks like it was a great and successful weekend. Sadly, though, there were no collared deer in these pictures.
Wow, sounds like a ton of fun and bonding went on for memorial day weekend. wish we were there to go with and especially to see the quaint little town where the movie was filmed. the best part though was seeing kaden in the diamond backs hat. makes him one of ours.

I LOVE Assateague, the wild ponies, the beach, and I agree that Berlin is a really sweet little town. So glad you had a good time!
I second everything, too. You are incredible. I love the leaf pillow cases. My girls would love something like that. Thanks for the idea.
