St. Patrick's Day

Every year the kids decorate boxes and leave them on the window sill in the moon light the night before St. Patrick's Day.  We read a poem before they go to bed and when they wake up the next morning they have to try to figure out where the leprechauns hid their boxes. If they find their boxes before the end of St. Patrick's Day then they get to keep the treasure.  Luckily for them the leprechauns always unknowingly leave a trail of greenery behind them.

Kaylee pointing out the trail of greenery.  This year the boxes were hidden in the top of the linen closet.

Kaylee always goes for the treats and toys first and Kaden counts his money.

Kaden's box said, "Please, please fill this box us with good stuff, stuff that I can use or whatever you usually put in it."

Kaylee wrote, "Happy Saint Patrick's Day!  It's so fun! Please give me a toy or snack."  She also let them know she was 6 1/2 years old and left them several coloring pages in her box.  One of the coloring pages said that she loved leprechauns. :)

Those sneaky leprechauns! Though they are so nice to leave such a treasure. We've never had leprechauns at our house, though Evelyn learned ALL about them at school this past week. They just might need to add our address to their list of homes to visit.

We did this again this year too! Brinly left a note for the leprechauns asking them where the pot of gold was and was absolutely devestated when they wrote back that they couldn't tell anyone. Needless to say there was a bit more drama that morning that morning than I bargined for!
