College Park Aviation Museum

Today we met up with some of our good friends at the College Park Aviation Museum. We had a group tour set up. The kids got to make some crafts, try out the flight simulator, play in the hands on area, and they each got a goodie bag to take home.

Our tour guide taught us some history about airplanes and how they work.

The kids each got a few turns to try out the flight simulator. This was Kaden's favorite part of the museum.

The tour guide told the kids they had to name all of the parts of the airplane that she taught them in order to be able to take turns sitting inside of it. They struggled on a few but ended up pulling it off.

Some of the controls actually moved different parts of the airplane. The kids thought that was cool.

Here they are trying it out again with their pilot clothes on.

The kids (and moms) had fun shooting paper airplanes into this target.

They had several airplane stamps that the kids could use to stamp on postcards.

They also had an area where the kids could rub crayons over metal stencils to make pictures.

The hands on area had a few different touch screens, puzzles, legos, pieces of miniature airplanes to put together and pilot clothes to try on.

Here is Kaylee with her best friend from kindergarten. Her friend was out of town staying with her dad for the first part of the summer. Kaylee was so excited to see her again!

This picture just cracks me up! :)

Here are a few pictures of some of the displays inside of the museum.

We had lunch on the rooftop overlooking the airport runway. The museum is located on the grounds of the world's oldest continuously operating airport. We didn't get to see any planes take off or land while we were there. However, we did have a good view of the airplanes and runway from the rooftop.

Kaylee was worried about eating outside. She said animals and bugs always bother her while she is trying to eat. Luckily there were no animals on the rooftop and I didn't see any bugs.

The kids each got to put together a foam airplane and glue together a wooden toy airplane.

We had all had a great time!

Your pictures look like they came straight out of the College Park Aviation Museum brochure!
