The Boyds Bear Country Store

Last weekend we set out to attend the Gettysburg festival and ended up getting side tracked at the Boyds Bear Country Store and the Gettysburg Outlets. We had a lot of fun but never ended up making it to the festival.

We loved the Boyds Bear store! There is so much to see. We spent two hours there and still didn't see everything. They even have a buffet restaurant and a bakery inside.

We let the kids make their own stuffed animals at the Super Duper Bear Factory.

To start out they give the kids a hard hat, a lanyard and take their picture with this big bear.

Kaylee with the big bear.

There are three different places that the kids can punch their cards throughout the factory.

Kaden chose a teddy bear and Kaylee chose a giraffe.

The next step was to fill their animals with colored beans.

Each color stood for something like bravery, laughter, love, imagination, ect.

They helped fill their animals with the beans.

Then they were given a magic bean that they rubbed between their hands. When they put the bean into their stuffed animal it magically came to live.

The last step was to pick out an outfit.

The only thing left to do was punch out and pay for their new stuffed animals.

Here is Kaden with Sam the Bear and Kaylee with Stephanie the Giraffe.

When you pay at the end they put the hard hat, lanyard and stuffed animal into a barn shaped box to take them home in. The kids have probably enjoyed the boxes as much as their stuffed animals. They have already spent hours coloring them.

If you don't want to make your own stuffed animal you can adopt a bear cub from the adoption center.

You can also adopt a puppy from the puppy adoption center.

There is a Thomas Kinkade art gallery inside the store. We loved his Disney paintings. If you have never seen them then you should.

Here are the kids in the Sesame Street section.

Kaylee in the storybook section.

They have a farmer's market out front during the summer weekends.

We bought some peaches to make peach cobbler with. If you are ever in Gettysburg you should stop by the Boyds Bear Country Store. We loved it!

Didn't Geoff get a bear? Wasn't there a good tax bear? Looks like a pretty impressive place!!!

HOw fun that looks! Marlie saw your blog and said "no fair, they are doing fun things without us." I guess she thinks you guys should stop doing fun stuff now that we are not there. :) We miss you and hope that you love all your fun outings. It looks like you are.

I've never heard of this place before! I love that you just let yourselves be so flexible and spend so much time here rather than being forced to leave for Gettysburg. I think those make the best memories!
