Mount Vernon

Our family in front of the Mansion.

Our good friends Adam and Camille Phillips were in town visiting and met us at Mount Vernon.

It was a very hot and humid day. We did a LOT of walking. We were exhausted afterwards but it was worth it because the property was beautiful! I am sure it would be a lot more enjoyable to visit in the spring or fall.

A picture of part of the farm.

They had a few horses and some pigs.

There were a few people dressed up in costumes. Our kids wanted their picture taken with this lady out on the farm.

You can take a 40 minute cruise on the Potomac River. We bought season passes and are planning on doing this sometime within the next year.

This is a view from the back lawn of the Mansion.

Kaden and Kaylee inside of the building with the gift shops and food court.

George and Martha AKA Geoff and Adam. :)

Kaylee's favorite part was playing inside of the Hands on History room. They had dress up clothes, a giant doll house, baby dolls in a cradle, books, and coloring pages.

We had a lot of fun with Adam and Camille. One night we met them in the historic part of Annapolis for dinner. Another night Geoff and Kaden met them at a National's game in DC. It was a lot of fun catching up with them. We were sad they had to leave.

How fun!!! Looks like a great day. I remember we went there and we stopped at a little place to eat (maybe right on the grounds?) and I got some really yummy peanut soup. Glad you guys are having such a fun summer!

Definitely a beautiful place to go--but I think you're right, Spring/Fall are much better times to visit. But at least you had great friends to visit with!

I love how you are always planning fun outings for your family! Years ago when I visited DC my favorite place of all was Mt. Vernon - it is still just as beautiful! And I must say, your Pinkalicious Party was adorable!!

Sorry we missed you when you came down, but I hope you call us next time you are that close. Especially if you do the boat ride. That looks fun.
