Kaden won't let me throw anything away. He can always think of something he can make out of every box, bottle cap, or toilet paper roll. So I try to throw things away when he isn't looking. I will hide things at the bottom of the garbage can or immediately take the garbage out to the garage before he can see it and stop me. I have let him save some boxes, paper towel and toilet paper rolls under his bed. Last night we decided to pull them out and have a contest to see what we could create using every box, toilet paper roll, and paper towel roll. It actually turned out to be a lot of fun. The kids put a lot of thought into where each piece should go. They even had fun kicking their creations down. Sometimes I let the kids use the boxes to create cities and homes for their fisher price little people. They can spend at least a few hours on a rainy day being creative and having fun.

Fun with Boxes

that looks like great fun!! Wish I could keep something in the house for fun but Dad is a clean freak!!!!
What a great activity! And all for free. :) And that's one of the best towers I've ever seen. Way to go, Kaden and Kaylee!!!
You are such a nice mom to keep so many boxes and paper towel rolls around! Isn't it amazing how much fun kids can have with "garbage"? Just yesterday Luke made a guitar out of an empty 12 pack soda box. I love then to use their imaginations, and for FREE! Cheap toys.
Looks like fun. I would think that Geoff would be the one playing with boxes...oh wait, that's taxes.
Wow! How fun is that? Thanks for sharing a great rainy day idea.
