An Amazing Woman

Geoff's grandmother died a few days ago. She was the most Christlike person I have ever known. She taught me so much through her example. We all LOVED and ADORED her. She found out she was pregnant with Geoff's mother shortly after her husband died. She raised her three daughters by herself and never remarried. I can only imagine the joy she must be experiencing right now as she is being reunited with her husband and loved ones in heaven.
One time while I was visiting with her she told me about how she had recently repented. I was surprised to hear that there would be anything that she would have needed to repent for. Then she went on to tell me how there was an older lady who lived in her building who was always negative and loved to complain. She said she was always trying to avoid this lady. If she saw or heard her she would turn around and go the other way so she wouldn't have to get stuck listening to the lady complain. Then one day she realized that the lady needed someone to listen to her and be her friend. She decided that from that point on she was going to be that lady's friend. After she told me this story I realized I was nowhere close to her level. I know I have been blessed to have her in my life. We will all miss her very much.

What a beautiful tribute to Geoff's grandma. We're so sorry for your family's loss, but also happy, like you mentioned, that she has been reunited with her loved ones.

I loved "Grandma" Mortenson. She was like a grandma to me. I LOVED going over to her house (in the back of the gunnersons) after piano lessons. She was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known. She will be missed!
We'll keep you all in our prayers
Love,
Erika

Aren't grandmas just the best! She sounds like an amazing woman. Sorry for your loss, but like you said, what a great time for your grandma right now. I'm glad you and your kids were able to have such a great example in your life and were able to learn from her.
