The State Fair

When I found out the State Fair was going on I knew we had to go.  I haven't been to one in years. I couldn't believe how unhealthy the food was.  They had the usual ice cream, donuts, pizza, cotton candy and snow cones, but they also had chocolate covered bacon, deep fried snickers, Reese's cups, jolly ranchers, and bubble gum.  Just the thought of some of those gross me out.
The kids were both excited to go and even more excited to be there after we arrived.

Online I found a form we could print, it said if the kids read three books and filled out the form then they could go on three free rides.  Kaylee saw the Crazy Coaster and begged Kaden to go on it with her.  I was surprised that she wanted to go on it because she has never been very adventurous when it comes to amusement park rides.  Kaden on the other hand will go on pretty much anything.  After the ride Kaylee ran into my arms and started crying.  Her legs were shaking and it took her a few minutes to calm down.  I wasn't surprised with the outcome but I still felt bad for her.

The second ride they chose to go on was the Tilt-a-Whirl.  Kaylee came off of that ride dizzy and sick.

The last ride they chose to use their coupons on was a fun house.  It had two levels and the floors moved.  This one was a success, they both had fun and came off smiling.

We all shared a rootbeer float snow cone.  It was huge, in fact we didn't even finish it all.

They had a great petting zoo.

The kids were able to feed the animals and brush them.

This goat was smart and aggressive.  It stood right next to the food dispenser machine.  Whenever anyone tried to put money into it he forced his way in to get the food before they could get it out. :)  It made us laugh.

The kids loved the butterfly garden.  This was Kaden's favorite part of the fair.

Here is a close up shot I got of one of the butterflies.  We all had a fun time!  Hopefully Geoff will be able to join us next time.

Poor Kaylee, it sounds like she is as good on rides as I am! It's just no fun when you WANT to do it, but it makes you so sick.

Happy Birthday Kaden. Hard to believe that you are 10 already. I still remember the day you were born and going to the hospital to see you!

Poor Kaylee! What a brave girl! And I wish our state fair had that coupon. They should also make one for adults! ;)
