An Update on Brooklyn

Since my beautiful niece Brooklyn is constantly on my mind and I have had several good friends and family asking about her I decided to post an update. She is still hooked up to all kinds of pumps and machines. Her leg has black sponge over the skin that has been removed and a vacuum has been attached to it to pull any infection out of it. The black area is the area that will have skin grafted on to it.
Yesterday was a struggle trying to keep her vital signs where they should be. They can't start the skin grafts until they can get everything stabilized. She will be going in for surgery this morning to have her wound cleaned out. We are hoping things will start going in a positive direction so they can start the skin grafting soon.
Thank you to all of you have have been keeping her in your prayers. She still has a little bit of a battle to fight but we are trying to stay positive. Please keep her in your prayers. We believe that is what has gotten her to this point.

Thanks for the update, Jadi. I checked your brother's blog first thing this morning to see how she was doing also. Both my boys included her in their prayers last night, as did Ryan and I. We'll keep the prayers coming!

Goodness! It's so hard seeing anyone--especially a child--hooked up to everything like that. It sounds like she's been through so much. We hope things continue to improve. We'll keep her in our prayers.

I think we just don't realize what a beast diabetes is. My nephew has type 1 too. Brooklyn and your whole family will be in our prayers.
